The wines of the Cru del Sannio line are produced from the vineyards of the first hill, in a landscape of alluvial terraces and gently sloping slopes, are useless. This double genesis involves the presence in this terroir of a complex mosaic of soils: the sandy-gravelly soils of the terraces, deep and dry; young but already organized soils, hospitable, docile, easily rooted. And then the ancient "black lands" of the marly hill, more evolved soils, tenacious, scurio d'ground on the surface', well structured thanks to the legacy of the ancient wood that covered them and the centuries-old work of the winemakers. Below the machining depth, the chromatic contrast between the deep horizon, white for the accumulation of carbonates, and the silt-clay substrate, finely inlaid with ocher and gray. The Cru del Sannio line therefore comes from a very particular terroir, from the point of view of morphology and soils. It is a complex cru, a “cooperative” terroir, where the constant excellence of the wines evidently derives from the ability of the winemakers to govern and harmonize, vintage by vintage, the behavior of the vineyards on the different soils, slopes and exposures.
